Your Guide to Genderless Fashion
We’ve thankfully pivoted away from gendered fashion, opening the door to every style and color you can think of. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you dresses are for girls or blazers are for boys—fashion is for everyone, and we’re here to walk through our favorite looks!
1. Blazers
Everyone needs—and can rock—a good blazer. With so many styles and patterns available, they’re a fantastic choice for any wardrobe; they let whoever express themselves however they want. If bold blazers aren’t your scene, you can tone it down with solid colors instead.
2. Colorful Prints
Anyone can (and should) strut their stuff in colorful prints. Whether it’s a bold jacket or an adorably vintage Hawaiian shirt, it’s easy to add pops of sunshine to your closet. You don't need an entirely colorful outfit either. Many pair loud prints with muted ones, which lets your personality subtly shine.
3. Skirts
Skirts became a larger trend several years ago, and we’re glad to see they’re still thriving. Pair one with a basic tee or a cozy crewneck—either achieve the comfortable style we’re all after. Don’t forget those stunning boots to go with it.
4. Cargo Pants
We know cargo pants seem a little 2010, but they’re officially cool again thanks to a recent resurgence. This practical pant goes best with crop tops and simple sneakers, and it’s the perfect look for just about anyone.
5. Mix-and-Match
Grab a shirt off the women’s rack. Grab pants from the men’s sections. Color block with gorgeous hues or mix up your patterns. It’s your style and the whole world is open to possibilities!
6. Patchwork Items
Patchwork is so much bigger than your favorite quilt; it’s fine embroidery that merges fashion and fun. Designers have everything from pants and jackets to sweaters and dresses available, so don’t be afraid to experiment.
7. Trench Coat
Who can resist a fashionable trench coat? It’s the perfect piece for fall and spring, keeps all that nasty weather away, and doesn’t add any heft to your ensemble. Whether you reach for that traditional tan or opt for something a little darker, trench coats are great for anyone.
8. Graphic Tees
There’s no shortage of graphic tees out there. Band merch, funny phrases, and incredible artwork adorn any simple tee, and they’re all great options for a lowkey day. Pair them with skirts or wear them under overalls for the ultimate fit.
9. Overalls
They’re cottagecore, they’re fashionable, they’re perfect for any figure—we’re talking about overalls! Crop tops and classic white tees look great underneath, and you can show off your personality with iron-on patches or pins.
10. Jewelry
Who said earrings were gendered? What about bracelets, rings, and necklaces? Maybe people back in the day, but we turned the tides and now recognize they’re for everyone! Don’t shy away from that added sparkle.
11. Shacket
Half shirt, half jacket, the revolutionary shacket is a must-have item for the colder months. Given that they’re often only plaid or solid colors, anyone can rock one with a good pair of pants. They’re also on the bulkier side, which makes them an easy option when you need to get dressed and go.
12. Oversized Style
Speaking of oversized items, a baggier look is indeed its own edgy style—and it’s one beloved by everyone. Catch the look in popular cities like NYC or LA; street style is rife with oversized pants, shirts, and jackets!
13. Gender-Neutral Suit
Okay, we all know the power of the blazer. But a knockout suit turns just as many heads, and anyone can pull off the look. Mix and match material or stick with a coordinated ensemble. Either way, you’ll put together a stylish fit perfect for any occasion.
14. Corsets
It doesn’t matter who you are, and it doesn’t matter what they say—corsets look good on anyone! On top of how gorgeous they are, they also better your posture and provide ample back support.
15. Long Dress
If anyone can rock a skirt, imagine how good you’ll look in a long dress. Maxi, tent, and A-line dresses suit everybody, often available in a wide range of patterns and colors. Kurt Cobain donned the stage in a floral print, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t.
16. Sweater Vest
Chandler Bing caught way too much flack for his sweater vest collection. They’re a cute piece tossed over blouses, button-downs, and even simple tees. They go beautifully with wide-leg trousers and sneakers, so dive into the look!
17. Playful Patterns
Who doesn’t love mixing patterns? It might seem a little unorthodox, but this fashionable trend brings all sorts of styles together. Anyone can pair busy prints with something more simple or mix-and-match stripes!
18. Good Sneakers
A great pair of sneakers may look good, but they’re also a practical choice. The right pair goes with nearly any outfit and keeps your feet comfortable when you’re out and about, so finding the best brand is paramount. The hardest part is stopping before you build a collection.
19. Vintage Style
Everyone appreciates a good vintage aesthetic. Welcome it into your wardrobe with an adorable dress or classic blazer perfect for pocket squares. You can even mix them with more modern pieces to truly stand out.
20. Nail Polish
Nail polish isn’t technically an accessory, but it still displays personality! Impressive artwork, traditional French tips, and bold colors can show off your style like nothing else, so feel free to express yourself.
